This was the 17th year that
Stutton Carpet Bowls Club ran their charity pairs competition
at the Royal Hospital School Holbrook and each year this small
club of only about 20 members pick a different charity to support
and this year it was the turn of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
This competition attracts 128
pairs from all over Suffolk and Essex, playing from 9.30 am until
6.30 pm on sixteen carpets in the gymnasium firstly in mini leagues
and then to a knock out final. Money is raised from entry fees,
a small draw and selling teas.
This year we were able to raise
£1386 for the East
Anglian Air Ambulance, plus a further £116 by selling
merchandise.
This small club over the years
has to date raised nearly £21,000.
The winners of the competition
were Shirley Watkins & Roy Longsborough of Barking
and the runners up Greg & Glenyce King of High Woods

The semi-finalists were Jean
& Derick Monk from Walton and Sally & Jim Goodrich
