» 2013 SUFFOLK CHARITY FOURS |
On Sunday 6th January Suffolk
2013 hosted their annual Charity Fours tournament at Needham
Market Community Centre, which this year was in aid of The Stroke Asscoiation.
There were 43 teams playing
this year, several of whom had travelled from outside the county.
So that we could accomodate
as many teams as possible there was no knockout stage, the winners
were simply decided by the results of the group games.
The group winners were Bealings
B, Knodishall B, Reepham A, Kelsale A,
Brantham A, Withersfield B, Bentley A, Knodishall
A and Nayland A.
The first team to win all their
games and set the benchmark were Nayland A who finished on 8
points and a very impressive 43 shots. Kelsale A came close,
again winning all their games, but just falling short on shorts,
despite reaching a total of 39 in their 4 wins.
The final round of games saw
Knodishall B with the only realistic chance of snatching victory.
They went into their last game needing a win and 12 shots to
be sure of victory and although they still needed another 3 shots
going into the final end they did exactly what they needed to
do, finishing on 44 shots to take the title by a single shot.
The winning Knodishall team
were Chris & Shirley Tilbrook, Val Game and Ken Drane.
We would like to thank everyone
who helped to contribute the event which we are pleased to say
raised more than £1200. |

» 2012 SUFFOLK CHARITY FOURS |
On Sunday 22nd January Suffolk
hosted their annual Charity Fours tournament at Needham Market
Community Centre, this year raising funds for Age
UK.
As with last years event we
concentrated on getting as many entries as possible in order
to maximise the income. With 45 teams, including ones from Essex,
Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, entered there wouldn't
be enough time for a knockout stage. So the eventual winners
would be decided simply on how well the teams did in their 4
group games.
7 of the 9 group winners won
3 of their 4 games, they were Burstall, Stratford St
Mary, Bentley, Colmworth, Knodishall A,
Brockley and Barking A. Going one point better
than those teams were the eventual Runners-up, Withersfield
A, who finished on 7 points. But the winners were the only
team not to drop a single point all day, Barking B, who
were Mick & Shirley Watkins and Sue & Andy Gilder.
We would like to thank everyone
who helped to contribute to the final figure which we expect
to top £1000. |

» SUFFOLK CHARITY FOURS 2010 |
The 2010 Suffolk Charity Fours
were held at Needham Market Community Centre on Saturday, 22nd
January, in aid of the East
Suffolk Alzheimer's Society.
The event drew an excellent
response from clubs all across the county and beyond, including
teams from Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
A total of 45 teams entered,
playing in 9 groups of 5. Unfortunately, such was the response,
with so many teams squeezed into the Community Centre, there
was not enough time for a Knockout Stage, so the event would
be decided purely on the basis of the Groups Stages.
Of the 9 Group Winners, only
3 teams managed to come away with perfect records, with Swaffham
Prior, from Cambridgeshire, finishing as the overall winners,
ahead of Copdock & Washbrook .
We would like to thank all
those who entered, as well as everyone who helped out on the
day, and in particular the event's sponsors, Ipswich Plumbers,
for helping us to raise £1450.
