» Graham Davey

It is with great sadness that I advise you that Graham Davey died on Thursday, at home surrounded by his family.

Graham was a popular bowler on the local bowls scene, a regular participant in our competitions & in recent years a consistent member of the Suffolk county team. Before playing for Suffolk, he was also a great supporter of the team, travelling home & away to cheer from the sidelines.

Graham also gave back to the game he enjoyed, serving on the Bury League Committee.

One of the good guys of our game, the epitome of a team player & he is going to be missed by all that played with & against him.

Our thoughts are with Sue, the family & the Cockfield club at this sad time.

» Andrew Cooper

As you may all know by now, we had the sad news at the start of this week, that Andrew Cooper died after a long illness.

All of you would have played with Andrew in the Suffolk team, or against him in club matches or competitions.

Andrew had just broken into the county team, when I took over the captaincy in 2006. For the next six seasons he was a regular in the team & played a big role in our successes. He always performed well in the big events & I was fortunate to have him as my third bowler at the Nationals in the mid-2000s.

What a competitive bowler he was, always played positive shots but at the same time, could play every shot needed. I always seemed to play against him at Hundon in club matches, my toughest game of the season. There would always be banter between us during the game, but mutual respect, and a warm handshake at the end.

Andrew will be missed on the local bowls scene & my thoughts are with his family and the Hundon bowlers at this time.
