The result of the final game between Trevor Cain and Paul Daniels would decided the group, although with 2 wins already under his belt Trevor would only need a draw to progress.

Trevor dominated that final game to comfortably win the group with maximum points, 3 points ahead of the rest.

Patrick Mann went into the final set of games with a 2 point advantage over his only remaining rival Anne Hathaway and only needed a draw to qualify.

Unfortunatley Patrick was unable to maintain his good form, losing heavily while Anne came through with a comfortable win to take the group by a margin of 7 shots.

Final
The game started well for Anne, although the ends were close she had a 3-1 lead with only 3 ends left to play. However Trevor blew back into the game with all 4 shots on the 5th end and followed that up with 3 on the next to give himself an unassailable lead. Although Anne took the final end the game was already over by that point with Trevor winning 8-6.
Winner - Trevor Cain (Gt Blakenham)
Runner-up - Anne Hathaway (Hundon)

With a game to go everything hung on the result of the Cockfield/Brockley game, but with a big shot advantage Cockfield would need just a draw to go through.

However an emphatic win for Brockley lifted them to the top of the group, ahead of Nayland who, despite not losing on the day, could only manage 4 points.

Going in to the final games the fate of the group hung on the result of the game between Knodishall and Gt Blakenham. With a 1 point advantage a draw would be enough for Knodishall.

In a close fought game Knodishall held the advantage right up until the very final wood which with a perfect draw took the shot and the game for Blakenham to move them into the final.

Final
The final score might have made the game look close, but in truth Gt Blakenham, as well as being in the lead throughout were also in control for pretty much the duration of the game. They were 5-1 ahead after 4 ends and after that needed to do no more than cover off the opposition which they did, taking a 6-3 win to retain the title.
Winners - Steven Cain & David Ford (Gt Blakenham)
Runners-up - Neil & Keith Jolly (Brockley)

Any one of 3 teams could win the group with a game to play. Barking held a 1 point lead, but a loss to Knodishall would open the door for either that team or Gt Blakenham to overhaul them.

And that was what happened. Knodishall won their final game, but Blakenham's win and their shot advantage saw them home by 4 shots.

Brockley and Old Felixstowe were on 3 points with a game to go, but Barking were just a point behind and could also take the group.

Although Barking won to take themselves ahead of Brockley, Old Felixstowe also won and that gave them the group by a point.

Final
Unfortunately for Old Felixstowe the final was over almost before it had started. Blakenham put 3 shots on the board on the first end and compounded that with another 4 on the next to lead 7-0 with only 2 ends down. A brief glimmer of hope came for Old Felixstowe on the third as they snathced back 4 shots to now trail by just 3. However the advantage still lay with Blakenham and they didn't let their opposition get any closer to them, taking a shot on each of the next 3 ends to put them 6 ahead with just an end to go. Old Felixstowe took the consolation of winning the final end, but it was not enough as Blakenham took the game 10-6 to complete a clean sweep of the Finals Day's trophies.
Winners -
Jenny Soilleux, Andy Pooley, Christine & David Mittell (Gt Blakenham)
Runners-up - John Austin, John Varden, Madge Smith & Pat Turner (Old Felixstowe)

Suffolk Triples 2013/2014

This year's event saw 40 teams competing across 8 groups, each of which produced a winner and runner-up for the Knockout Stages.

Getting down to the Quarter Finals, the results of the games were mostly clear cut, with comfortable margins of victory for Knodishall, Belstead and Hundon. The exception was an all Barking affair which had to go down to the final end before it was settled.

The semi-final between Knodishall and Hundon was nip and tuck all the way through with Knodishall slowly edging out their advantage to the point where they could defend a 3 shot lead going into the last end, to take the win 5-4.

In the other game Barking took the early advantage against Belstead, but midway through the game Belstead recorded a full house, 6 shots, which swept them into a lead and would see them 5 shots to the good going into the last end. But remarkably Barking found their way back in, recovering all the shots they needed to draw level and take the game to an extra end which they took on a measure for an extraordinary 10-9 win.

The final saw Barking grind out a lead over the first 5 ends, holding a 5-1 advantage with 2 ends to go. However Knodishall fought back, taking 2 on the penultimate end to pull back to just a 2 shot deficit going into the last, which they also won, but only by a single shot, leaving Barking 5-4 winners.
