Steven Cain led the way as
the only player to have won both of his first 2 games and although
hes lost his final game he was able to make it through courtesy
of his superior shots.
Final
Steven took the advantage early on with his relentlessly accurate
drawing. Taking the first 4 ends he accumulated a seven shot
lead with just 3 ends to go. Although Tom was able to win the
next 2 ends he could only get the score back to 7-3 with an end
to go. With Steven needing to do no more than ensure that he
didn't drop all 4 shots and Tom forced to attack, Steven won
the end to take the title with an 8-3 win.
Winner - Steven Cain
Runner-up - Tom Runnacles

Cockfield led the way with
2 games played, having won one and drawn one, a point ahead of
their final opponents Brockey. A point for Cockfield would see
them through while Brockley needed to win and keep an eye on
Withersfield. As it was Withersfield came home with a healthy
win while Brockley were just ahead in their game. And it all
came down to the final wood. Brockley were holding 4 and needed
3 shots to go through and so needed the jack to stay where it
was, Cockfield needed to move the jack to give themselves 3 shots
for a draw and Withersfield needed the jack to be anywhere else
other than where it was. In the end Cockfield missed the shot
and Brockley were through with one shot to spare.
Final
Much as expected the final was an extremely close battle. The
first 4 ends were shared with just a shot scored on each, with
the break coming in the 5th end as Blakeham scored 2 shots to
give themselves just a little breathing room. And it turned out
to be enough. Brockley took the penultimate end, but only with
a single shot and so trailed by one going into the last end which
Blakenham took to win 6-3 and give Steven Cain his second title
of the day.

Runners-up - Neil & Keith Jolly

This was the most closely contested
group of the day with everything resting on the final round of
games, prior to which all the teams had won one and lost one
and were covered by just 2 shots. As a result the fate of the
group was always going to be a close call, but a five shot haul
for Brockley, halfway through their final game was what sealed
the match and the group for them.

As the only team to have won
both of their opening pair of games, Belstead were in pole position
to qualify, having accumulated a healthy shot lead over their
closest opponents. As a result they qualified despite losing
their final game, finishing the best of 3 teams in the group
who had all won 2 games and lost 1.
Final
Another close final but it was one in which Brockley were never
in arrears, even if they were never comfortably ahead as Belstead
held their own throughout. Brockley took 2 on the first end and
while Belstead were on level terms 2 ends later, Brockley then
won the next 2 ends to take a 2 shot lead. Belstead had the lead
back down to a single shot with an end to go, but Brockley were
able to maintain their advantage, taking the last end to win
5-3.
