The first round of games saw wins for Sue Jones and Tom Runnacles. These two then met in the next game which ended in a draw. Although the two of them were each on 3 points, Sue held a small 2 shot advantage.
The final round of games saw them both leading, deep into their matches, but with Sue maintaining her small advantage. And although Sue went on to win her game and finish on 5 points, Tom came through with late surge to overhaul Sue's advantage and win the group by 4 shots.

Mick Watkins and Kay Masters were the early leaders, win a win apiece, but the match between the two of them finished with narrow victory for Mick which saw him go into the final round of games needing no more than a draw to qualify. As it was he won again to finish with 3 wins out of 3, 2 points clear of Ann Blundell.

The Final
The early advantage went to Tom as he picked up a maximum 4 shots on the first end. And it was a lead which he never relinquished. The next 5 ends yielded just a shot apiece, but Mick was only able to win 3 of them and so went into the final end 6-3 down. Although victory was not out of the question for Mick, Tom was not only able to defend his lead, but he picked up 2 shots to finish the 8-3 winner.

With Brockley and Leiston drawing their first game, Belstead had the only win of the round with a narrow victory over Knodishall. However the next round saw Brockley beat Belstead to move a point clear at the top of the group as Knodishall beat Leiston.

The final set of games could have seen the group go any one of 3 ways, but Brockley came through with a good win against Knodishall to clinch the group by a point over Belstead.

The early leaders were Kelsale and Withersfield who both had strong wins in their first games, so the cruch game would be the next, when the two teams would take one another on. And it was Kelsale that came out on top, to go 2 points clear and leave themselves needing to get just one more point to qualify.

Withersfield did all they could in their final game, taking a huge 19-3 win, but Kelsale took their third win to finish 2 points clear at the top.

The Final
Kelsale held the early advantage, taking 4 shots on the first end, giving Brockley a tough mountain to climb. Brockley took one on the next end, but the third went Kelsale's way again, with another 3 shots, extending their lead to 7-1.

However Brockley were back in the game a couple of ends later, having earned 2 shots on both ends they were now trailing by just 2 shots with 2 ends still to play.

The 6th end was heading Brockley's way, holding the 2 shots that would have drawn them level, but Kelsale's final shot won the end and put them 8-5 ahead with just a single end to go.

With just a couple of woods for each team to play on the final end, Kelsale held shot to go along with their 3 shot lead and looked secure. However Brockley's penultimate wood moved the jack to given them 2 shots. Kelsale needed something close to make life difficult for Brockley, but failed to do so, getting no better than third shot. A third for Brockley was all that would be needed to take the game to an extra end, but on a tricky carpet with an unfavourably big swing on one hand for that final shot and not enough turn on the other, Brockley could not manage to get that final elusive shot, leaving Kelsale 8-7 winners, in a reversal of the result last year's final.

Great Blakenham and Hundon both won their first games to share the early lead of the group. Hundon's win was remarkable in that that had to come from being 8-1 down. Blakenham won their second game, but Hundon could only manage a draw, although the comeback kings had to get 4 shots on the final end to achieve even that.

The group winners, then, were going to be one of these 2 teams, as they played one another in the final game. However with a 1 point advantage, Blakenham knew that a draw would be enough for them. And this was one game which Hundon could not claw their way back in to. Blakenham took the game and won the group by a comfortable 3 point margin.

Bramford and Great Blakenham shared the lead of the group after winning their first games. However although Blakenham also won their second, Bramford failed to do so, leaving them tied for second, with Hoggards Green, 2 points off the lead.

Going into their last game Blakenham knew that a point, or perhaps even less would be sufficient to see them through. And with the result in the game involving Hoggards Green going their way, their 4 shot advantage over Bramford going into the game proved to be enough. Blakenham were able to settle for a 5-2 defeat, knowing that they would qualify by a single shot.

The Final
This one then, was an all Great Blakenham affair and included the reigning champions. And they were the ones, Blakenham B, who took the first end, but Blakenham A took the next 3 ends, moving into a 5-1 lead. The champions took the 5th end, but only by a single shot, which left the challengers 3 shots ahead with just 2 ends to go, a good lead, but hardly a comfortable one.

And so it proved to be as Blakenham B proceeded to turn the game on it's head, courtesy of one perfect draw to a jack that was only inches away from the back edge of the carpet and another 4 woods which were close enough to beat Blakenham A's best effort. A 5 shot swing then, which took Blakenham B into a 2 shot lead with an end to go, an end which still might have gone the way of Blakenham A were it not for a jack which had to be moved with their final shot and which did so, but just a bit too far.

So that final end and the game went to Blakenham B, who retained their title with an 8-5 win. And remarkably this is the third year in a row that Don Allum has been on the winning team.
