Cockfield Invitation Charity
Fours 2018
Cockfield Carpet Bowls Club
held their annual charity fours competition on Saturday 10 February.
The competition has been running
since 1992 and for the second year running over £900.00
has been raised for charity. This thanks to the hard work of
club members, with setting up the hall, baking cakes, supplying
a good value ploughmans lunch and providing teas, coffee
etc throughout the day. We must also thank competitors for providing
draw prizes and Stanningfield Carpet Bowls Club for providing
the flooring.
A full house of: Four Groups
with 5 teams competing, bowling started at 9.30am and continued
until the final at approximately 17.30.
The four Group winners were:
Group 1 - Nayland
Group 2 - Hundon
Group 3 - Kesgrave
Group 4 - Badwell Ash
The draw for the semi-finals:
Nayland 4 v Hundon 3
Kesgrave 4 v Badwell Ash 3
The Final won by Nayland 4
v Kesgrave 2
The Cockfield tournament uses
a different format to most competitions, a match is decided on
the number of ends won and not the number of shots. The winning
four ball were presented with a £15.00 Garden Centre Voucher
each and the runners-up a bottle of wine each.
We raised: £960.00 on
the day and the club added £40.00.
A cheque for £750.00
will be presented to: My
WISH Charity (Every Heart Matters) before the match v
Hundon on the 19 March.
A second cheque for £250.00
has been made out to the: Stroke
Association SAVG Second Chance
The stroke club meets every
Tuesday at Gt Barton Village Hall between 10.00am and Midday.
On the 20 March this cheque will be handed over when Diane will
be giving a demonstration of Carpet Bowls. She will be using
a trolley designed by Colin to help her get back into bowling
after her stroke.
All Cockfield Carpet Bowls
Club Members are welcome to attend at about 11.00am
Everyone who goes into hospital
gets treated with respect and dignity but its when the patient
is discharged things seem to fall apart. Stroke patients specially
are left to fend for themselves.
Winners: Nayland
Runners-Up: Kesgrave |
